Cost of Child Care

We encourage parents to participate in pre-taxed dollar child care initiatives through their employment and assist in providing necessary paperwork to help parents. We also offer family discounts to parents of multiple-birth children and to employees.

We believe that caring is an important part of child care and that all children should be allowed to participate in quality care. Enrollment is open to children from all socio-economic backgrounds. Because not all parents can afford quality care without assistance, we participate in programs offered through the Albemarle Department of Social Services and United Way. Unfortunately, participation in these programs must be limited. Government and non-profit agencies pay their accounts 30 to 60 days in arrears, meaning the center must be able to carry the agency/government's debt load.

While our programs are neither the most nor the least expensive in the area, competitive rates are offered because of our ability to work with large numbers of children in small group settings. We do not expect our staff to underwrite the cost of child care. Our greatest expense in child care is staff salary and benefits. We pay competitive child care center employment wages. Staff benefits include paid holidays, paid vacation, paid sick leave, paid snow leave when the center closes, ongoing training, certification fees, and partial tuition for college courses. Staff incentives such as attendance awards, monetary bonuses, and gifts are given throughout the year.

We are proud to be a tax-paying businesses. We understand that supporting the tax base helps our community. However, we also reach out to our community in many other ways. While our organization is not incorporated as a charitable organization, we participate in and create endeavors that allow our clients to recycle clothing, books, and toys. Our child care center is a small community of people helping people.

There is an initial non-refundable registration fee of $175 for the first child; $50 for additional children. There is an annual registration renewal fee of $40 per child. This fee covers the accident insurance policy on children while enrolled in the program.

These are the current 2008 rates for the following programs. Other fees and programs may be available. 2008 Fee Schedule PDF Available Here.
