Philosophy

The center admits children without regard to sex, race, color, or national/ethnic origin. The center does not discriminate because of sex, race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin in administration of their education policies and other school-administered programs.

Five basic aspects of child growth and development are considered.

PHYSICAL GROWTH: Our program includes a balance of rest, nutritious food, fresh air, plenty of exercise, outdoor play and times of relaxation. The center requires physical examinations by your doctor with initial application to help safeguard the general health of the school population. The State of Virginia requires immunizations on the proper form before admittance. Physical exams must be completed within outlined time periods.

EMOTIONAL GROWTH: A child's emotional development is reflected in his behavior. We strive to provide the child the security of knowing he is loved, belongs, and is wanted. We encourage self-confidence in the child. A happy and relaxed atmosphere is provided to help his emotional needs.

SOCIAL GROWTH: Social growth involves the child's feelings and relationships with the people with whom he associates. Teaching a child to relate to small groups, large groups, adults and individual children is vital to his social development.

SPIRITUAL GROWTH: While the center is not a religious sponsored facility, the center respects the rights of each child and his family to practice their faith in their own way. Voluntary prayer before snacks and meals is incorporated as a part of daily activities. The observance and study of religious holidays of various faiths may be incorporated into the program at appropriate times.

MENTAL GROWTH: Each child grows and develops at his own pace. Our staff recognizes the wide differences in intelligence and capacity for mental growth in children. Many experiences help each child mature at his own level. Teachers remain alert to educational readiness of the child.
